The kola nut is native to tropical Africa where it is also known as cola nut, garcinia kola cola and bizzy nut. The kola tree produces star-shaped fruit where each fruit contains several kola nuts about the size of a chestnut. The nut is a staple in many West African countries because its high caffeine content is known to be a stimulant, enhancing concentration, alertness, and physical prowess. The kola nut has been incorporated into African culture and traditional healing practices for thousands of years. Often small pieces of the bitter nut are chewed on before meals to promote digestion. Many Westerners are familiar with cola soda products which were once made from the whole kola nut. Today, however, only a kola extract is used as a flavoring agent for most cola sodas and energy drinks.
The kola nut is a naturally caffeinated superfood rich in antioxidants, fiber, and plant protein. You can be assured that all of our premium quality kola nuts are sustainably grown using farming cooperatives. The kola nut increases the body’s metabolism which is why it is often used for weight reduction. The kola nut boosts energy while at the same time, relaxes the mind.
The powder can be taken as a capsule. 1 tablespoon is all you need to get the energy boost you need. Make your own brew by steeping kola nut powder in water. You may enjoy it more than coffee or tea. Of course, you can also add the powder to smoothies, shakes, oatmeal and yogurt.
