Wellness need not follow you if you buy into the latest fads and keep up with all the new hyped products in the market. Our body does not care for fads but for foundation. And a solid foundation is built brick by brick on the staples that are rooted in nature and timeless traditions.

It is not the hype but the harmony that anchors one’s wellness.

My wellness allies are the timeless powerful African superfoods such as Hibiscus, Baobab, and Moringa. I crave simplicity, authenticity, and cultural connections in my wellness journey. I believe in plant powered living that is sustainable, honors the earth and is rooted in my African traditions.

MAKOMAS’ all natural, non GMO, ethically sourced ingredients have become the backbone of my wellness. The versatility of the products combined with their nutritional density leaves me wanting more every single time.

Today I share two of my simplest recipes to incorporate MAKOMAS superfood goodness in one’s routine. I promise you will be happy after having tried these at home without breaking a sweat this summer season.

Bissap (Hibiscus) Fruit Popsicles

Who says wellness can’t be fun, nostalgic, and a little playful?

Bissap (Hibiscus) Fruit Popsicles aren’t just tasty color poppers but they’re also a smart way to get wellness supporting nutrients into kids (and adults!) without them even noticing.

Ingredients (makes 6–8 popsicles):

  1. 2 cups brewed Makomas Hibiscus Tea
  2. 1/2 cup orange juice
  3. 1/2 cup chopped strawberries
  4. Optional: 1 tbsp honey or agave (if you crave extra sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Mix tea and orange juice in a pitcher. Add sweetener if desired.
  2. Place a few pieces of fruit in each popsicle mold.
  3. Pour the liquid over the fruit and insert sticks.
  4. Freeze for 4-6 hours or overnight.

Pro tip: Swirl in some coconut milk for added texture and flavor layers.

These Bissap (Hibiscus) Popsicles are hydrating and powered by Makomas Hibiscus Tea. Hibiscus is packed with antioxidants and supports healthy blood pressure. Fruit adds fiber, vitamins, and flavor. It is a functional treat from my ancestors that has a sweet, tart, and fruity flavor packed into each icy burst.

Capture the Heat. Freeze the Flavor.

Craving for bold flavors and cool moments in summer heats?

These popsicles are bold, feel good snacks that are plant powered and full of African soul. Rooted in the classic West African hibiscus drink (zobo or bissap), this recipe turns Makomas Hibiscus Tea into a functional, frozen treat.
