MAKOMAS ALL STARTED WITH A SIMPLE MISSION:

TO SHARE THE TREASURES OF AFRICA AND GIVE BACK TO THE INDUSTRIOUS WOMEN

I am Magbè Savané Silué, originally from the Ivory Coast in West Africa. After living many years in the United States, I not only longed for flavors reminiscent of Africa, I wanted to share them with my new friends in America. I started MAKOMAS in 2011 to do just that. Using family recipes that had been handed down through generations of my family, I began by crafting and selling uniquely flavored beverages using highly nutritious ingredients sourced largely from Africa.

MAKOMAS believes in not just taking, but in giving back too. Thus, we support the women who farm our ingredients. Understanding how empowering it is to support women we have also created the MAKOMAS FOUNDATION. With every product we sell we give back to the community of women by providing work, stability, wellbeing, and hope.

Our mission is to invest in a more equitable future, create sustainable incomes for rural African households for poverty alleviation, and empower communities in Africa through the fair trade of foods and other indigenous resources from Africa.

Our vision is to work with small-holder women farmers to drive economic growth, women's empowerment, and sustainable agricultural development. We are building MAKOMAS to vision that every woman in Africa gets the resources and opportunities to become self-sufficient through agricultural products and entrepreneurship. MADE WITH PURPOSE

All our products are directly sourced, being origin-specific and traceable products.

We make a high-quality product that delivers on flavor and nutrition. But, as a company, our responsibilities do not end there. If we care about farm to table production, we also have to care about our farmers, our rural women farmers. We make sure that women working on small-scale farms get fair pay, enabling them to depend on an income stream that is invaluable to the welfare of their families and community. While fair trade is most often associated with coffee and cocoa, MAKOMAS feels it is imperative to highlight the importance of fair trade with other supply chains in the food and beverage industry.

We make our products in small batches to ensure its quality. We can assure our consumers that we source our ingredients from small farmers who are justly compensated. We proudly stand behind our product knowing that our consumer can enjoy a quality product while still contributing to a just society.
